第15期珠海海洋论坛将于2023年12月1日（星期五）10：30在南方海洋实验室B210会议室举办。本次论坛将由Prof.Dr.Thomas Jung作“Emerging themes in global climate modelling:Km-scale modelling and storylines”主题报告。

主讲嘉宾简介：Thomas Jung is a world-leading model developer and an expert in the field of climate analysis, modeling, and prediction. He is the head of the Climate Dynamics section and the Vice Director at the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research in Germany. With a PhD in atmospheric physics from the University of Kiel and the Institute for Marine Research (now GEOMAR), obtained in 2000, Jung went on to work for 10 years at the Research Department of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) in the UK. Jung is not only a leading scientist at the Alfred Wegener Institute, but also holds the title of full professor for the physics of the climate system at the University of Bremen. He is the spokesperson for the AWI's research program and acts as the chair of various committees. He is coordinator of several major research projects, including the Eddy Rich Earth System Models (EERIE) funded through Horizon Europe and the Advanced Earth System Modeling Capacity (ESM) funded through the Helmholtz Association. In addition to his research and coordination activities, Jung is a dedicated advocate for science communication and outreach, with a strong commitment to making the results of his work accessible to decision-makers and the wider public.
