The Polar Ocean Circulation Group aims to attract world-wide polar physical oceanographers to investigate the dynamical processes and the physical mechanisms in the circulations of the Southern Ocean and the Antarctic marginal seas. Their research currently focuses on the interactions between the Southern Ocean and the Antarctic marginal seas and between the atmosphere, ocean and cryosphere, to advance the understanding of the mass balance of the Antarctic Ice Sheet and Ice Shelves and the formation of Antarctic Bottom Water.
